Potential Second Trump Presidency Scares Climate Activists

The potential of a second Trump presidency is causing fear among those who are progressive in their posture towards climate change. Politico notes that if Donald Trump wins the 2024 election, he is expected to resume policies that undermine global climate action, such as pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement, halting international climate negotiations, and reversing the Biden administration’s stranglehold on the collective neck of American oil and natural gas producers.

Trump’s first term saw significant changes to America’s posture on climate regulations, and his return to the White House would likely be a godsend for America’s independent oil producers. International diplomats and climate activists are particularly concerned because the U.S. plays a critical role in forcing the rest of the world to obey global climate goals. The Biden administration's policies, like the Inflation Reduction Act, have hobbled production on federal lands. Trump would expand drilling on federal lands as Trump views climate change as a prybar for socialistic, authoritarian policies.

The prospect of a Trump return is allegedly causing anxiety among world leaders as they prepare for the upcoming COP28 summit in Dubai. Without strong U.S. leadership, climate experts warn that it will be difficult for other nations to meet their commitments. Trump’s balanced position on climate, coupled with his America-first stance, could reduce momentum for what Politico calls “global cooperation,” allegedly making it harder to tackle pressing environmental issues.

Politico, like most news organizations, propagandizes on behalf of the super wealthy climate change lobby. What Politico fails to note is that the United States cannot not “solve” climate change by bowing to foreign cabals and becoming subservient to foreign oil producers, as Governor Gavin Newsom has done as the CEO of California.

A second Trump presidency would benefit independent oil producers throughout the country, unleashing the energy economy and benefitting the entire world, particularly developing nations that are seeking fossil energy to move up and out of 3rd World status.
